    Good stuff. Thanks for sharing.
A technical sidebar — going full screen with this screencast crashes my browsers. Using Firefox 3.0.5 and Safari 3.2.1 with Adobe Flash Player 10.0.2.54 on OS X 10.5.6. Not sure if this is happening for other people, but just a heads up.

Is it just me or is the sound on this video VERY low… ?

(It´s a pity because it seems to be a pretty good tutorial)

Really nice tutorial… I was wondering if there could be any chance of you doing a tutorial like this but for wordpress mu instead?

Nice tutorial, but the audio is indeed very low and voice of Sam Bauers was annoying me. He is to tranquil. Next time, take some uppers or dont use the downers before recording a screencast 😉

Thanks Bauer for the very informative video..

Could you please also make a tutorial for integrating the forum in the wordpres blog..

I mean in terms of look… with header and footer of wordpress and the forum comes normally like integrated in the wordpress.. like on bbpress website.

I take it that how you actually used example.org was via hostfile. correct?

Sorry Staxx, can’t do much about my voice. I didn’t script the screen-cast, which explains most of the unusual pauses. The audio could have been louder I suppose, but was audible on my laptop.

Kuldeep, there is no straight-forward way to do what you are asking. I recommend that you create a bbPress theme to match your WordPress blog. You should probably take your question to the bbPress forums for specific help.

    links2funblog, that’s right.

I seem to be have a lot of problems with plugins. Is there a list of plugins that are compatible with this configuration? I’ve had a lot of trouble with even the simplest of plugins, constant errors and pains.

Simply superb integration steps and very nice tutorial. I though i would have figured it out myself but the cookies integration part in the video made me watch the whole video. Impressed. Thank you very much for sharing.

Great tutorial, thanks. Just wondering, is this integration tutorial purely for people wishing to test the bbPress alpha build? I’m developing a website which is close to launch and I’d much rather use WordPress and bbPress than try to use WordPress and phpBB3 bridged together with a hack (such as WP-Unified) – but then the bbPress download page states that the current bbPress alpha build is not recommended for live sites.

Why is the quality so so bad on Full Screen. Why not host it on VIMEO as HD.
just my 2 cents. GREAT TUTORIAL!

We have HD of our own, but the source video needs to be in HD in the first place for it to kick in. This one wasn’t I’m afraid. For those that are, you’ll see the HD On button top right.

I just get a bunch of errors, I tried bbpress forums and wordpress forums, no luck. Maybe bbpress doesn’t like my wordpress install.

In case you are curious, all errors point to class.bpdb.php, I have no clue what to do with that file.

For now I’m using bbpress without integration, I like bbpress better than other option out there.

buzz_lightyear, what were your tweaks? I’ve followed the tut, but can’t stay logged in from wpmu to bbpress, although bbpress found my wmpu users. To add to the drama, I’ve got buddypress thrown in.

I followed the video and it was incredibly informative. I now have WordPress and bbPress fully integrated.
When I click on the forums page in WordPress it opens bbPress. Woo hoo.
I just can’t figure out how to get back to WordPress.

Can’t wait to see the MU tutorials soon.
I bought an ebook, which helped I got it installed, but with many errors, and issues.

I followed this video and got bbpress working, but I would like to see it work within the wordpress theme itself, not another window, different theme.

Im currently using a forum plugin that works nicely, but is there a way to get bbpress to look like its in my blog site itself.

How that was not too difficult of a rambled support issue. ( LOL)

Is it possibly to have this explained for “normal” people who are new to wordpress?

is this the only tutorial for this?

Help! After installing bbPress and following this VERY HELPFUL video, my “Leave Comment” link at the bottom of every page now links to my forum. How can I put my comments back on my page? I want my users to be able to leave comments specific to the pages on my site…

    I need help!

Using BP 1.0.1, none of the tutorials out there seem to match what I see, and the screencast above only says “Embedding disabled by author”.

Where can I get the screencast?

Great tutorial! You’ve made it seem so simple (which it surely is with your clear directions) that I feel I must give this a try! A question though, you said you can’t integrate the latest bbPress build with WordPress. However, oOnce the integration is done, are you safe to upgrade to the latest build? Or will that break the integration?

    Like

    • Ryan Markel

Actually, now that bbPress has passed version 1.0, the integration will work just fine with the current stable version of bbPress.

      Like

      • jonmilani

Thanks Ryan! I’m going to build a stock blog and give this integration a shot. It doesn’t look too complicated, and it is definitely something that at least one of my clients might be interested in (assuming bbPress’ ecosystem continues to mature as a viable forum architecture).

I received this error after I installed the bbforum as advised on the video:

Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in D:\Program Files\xampplite\htdocs\wordpress\forums\bb-settings.php on line 186

Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in D:\Program Files\xampplite\htdocs\wordpress\forums\bb-includes\backpress\functions.wp-object-cache.php on line 108

Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in D:\Program Files\xampplite\htdocs\wordpress\forums\bb-includes\backpress\pomo\mo.php on line 171

Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in D:\Program Files\xampplite\htdocs\wordpress\forums\bb-includes\functions.bb-l10n.php on line 484

Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in D:\Program Files\xampplite\htdocs\wordpress\forums\bb-includes\backpress\class.wp-taxonomy.php on line 581

What can I do to fix this. Could this be b/c I didn’t add the database collation in the wp-config file? Also, I did receive some php errors during the installation file but they didn’t hinder me to install bbpress.
