En pratique, nous verrons s’il existe des bonnes pratiques universelles, réalistes, et vérifiables en ligne qui permettent d’améliorer et de mieux prendre en compte la diversité des contextes de consultation de vos sites par leurs utilisateurs et l’amélioration globale de leur expérience..
Enfin, nous verrons comment il est possible de prendre en compte ces bonnes pratiques dans les systèmes de gestion de contenus, et comment ceux-ci vont pouvoir nous aider à produire de meilleurs sites.

April 6, 2017 — Web accessibility refers to the inclusive practice of removing barriers that prevent interaction with, or access to, websites by people with disabilities. When your website is accessible, all users can access your content and functionality no matter their abilities. Visually-impaired users can visit your website using a screen reader. Those who can’t use a mouse can navigate your site using a keyboard or other input device. Most accessibility features will also improve your SEO. When your site is inaccessible, research shows you could be excluding up to 20 percent of your users. This talk will cover the basics of accessibility, why it’s important, and how you can support accessibility in your projects.

March 30, 2017 — 1 in 5 people in the US, report having some kind of disability. For some, these disabilities make it difficult to access the internet. That’s where web accessibility comes in. According to the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), web accessibility means that “people with disabilities can perceive, understand, navigate, and interact with the Web, and that they can contribute to the Web.” Not only does web accessibility help people with disabilities, it helps others experience the Web, including individuals whose abilities have changed as they’ve gotten older.

Web accessibility is so much more than standards and checking off items on a list. It’s about having empathy for someone else. To be frank, web accessibility makes it possible for everyone to google the burning question that we all have at 2a.m.: Where can I get pizza at this hour?

She checks for usability with Jaws for Windows, Non-Visual Desktop Access, (NVDA), Window Eyes, System Access, and VoiceOver at Customer Servant Consultancy.

December 7, 2016 — Sushil is a youth and disability rights activist currently working to raise awareness on disability rights and issue in Nepal and beyond. He is also a computer instructor, sound editor, blogger, positive thinker, writer, and the founder of a volunteer-based youth-led venture called, Bright Star Society.
Sushil is visually-impaired IT promoter and the advocate for accessibility. Through his presentation he highlighted the importance of having accessible ready websites and why it is one of the rising issue in the digital world.
