March 25, 2019 — In May 2019, Marcel Bootsman will walk to Berlin from his hometown Berkel en Rodenrijs, to raise funds for DonateWC and support the WordPress community.
DonateWC is an initiative that aims to provide people with lesser financial means with funds to get to a (big) WordCamp. From donations that they collect, they’ll provide deserving community members with a WordCamp ticket, door to door transportation, accommodation, food and drink money, internet access and a once-in-a-lifetime experience
February 27, 2017 — Luca Sartoni is the Protector of Asynchronicity at Automattic and is based in Vienna, Austria.
He is a co-organizer for WordCamp Europe 2017 and is leading the Volunteer Team, which comprises of 7 people. They are expected to have over 250 people volunteer for this event.
December 12, 2015 — Three years ago, WordCamp Europe was held for the very first time. But besides bringing together thousands of people from all over the world, this international event had another unforeseen result. WCEU gave a few local WordPress communities unexpected momentum as a consequence of the unique environment it created. As a co-organizer of WCEU 2015 and a member of the Italian WordPress community, I will trace the extraordinary journey from stalling local community to thriving ecosystem of meetups and enthusiastic members, using real case studies from the German and Italian WordPress communities.
