Wir schauen uns an, wie Du Deine WordPress Seite mit Bordmitteln (Core, Theme, Page Builder, Plugins) so barrierearm wie möglich machen kannst. Und worauf Du generell bei der Erstellung Deiner Website aus Barrierefreiheitssicht achten kannst.

May 19, 2025 — Im deutschsprachigen WordPress-Forum stellen wir immer wieder fest, welche Schwierigkeiten User mit der Anpassung eines Block Themes wie Twenty Twenty-Four haben, weil sich mit der Einführung von Block Themes die Art und Weise, wie WordPress-Websites gestaltet und verwaltet werden, grundlegend verändert hat.
Block Themes bestehen aus modularen Blöcken, die Benutzer*innen per Drag-and-Drop anpassen können. Standard-Themes wie Twenty Twenty-Four oder Twenty Twenty-Five nutzen wie jedes Block Theme den Block-Editor (Gutenberg), um eine flexible und benutzerfreundliche Anpassung einer WordPress-Instanz zu ermöglichen, ohne dass tiefgehende Programmierkenntnisse erforderlich sind.
Diese hohe Flexibilität im Vergleich zu klassischen Themes wie Astra, OceanWP oder GeneratePress macht die Stärke der Block Themes wie Twenty Twenty-Five aus.
Bei diesem Vortrag werde ich an einem Beispiel eines Standardthemes wie z. B. Twenty Twenty-Five zeigen, wie man eine WordPress-Instanz bei einem Block Theme sehr flexibel anpassen kann. Zunächst erfolgt eine kurze Einführung in das Standardtheme. Anschließend werden live auf einer Testinstanz Templates individuell angepasst oder neu erstellt. Sollte es zeitlich möglich sein, schauen wir uns verschiedene andere Block Themes kurz an.

May 19, 2025 — Barrierefreiheit dürfte den meisten ein Begriff sein. Doch die wenigsten können sich vorstellen, wie sich Barrierefreiheit oder auch ihre Abwesenheit auf die Nutzung einer Webseite auswirken. Da ich darauf angewiesen bin, werde ich mittels eines so richtig echten Screenreaders und aus der realen Welt entnommenen Beispielen die Arbeitsweise von Hilfsmittelsoftware näherbringen und worauf es bei der Entwicklung von Webseiten ankommt. Des Weiteren werde ich eine andere Arbeitsweise vorstellen, welche bisher kaum bis gar keine Berücksichtigung in Diskussionen gefunden hat.
