January 31, 2025 — In today’s technology-driven world, it is essential to address the gender gap in the tech industry. The topic of the “gender of code” explores the pervasive gender imbalances, biases, and the broader landscape of women’s and LGBTIQA+ participation in technology.
The technology sector has long been dominated by men, leading to disparities in opportunities, representation, and workplace dynamics. These gender biases have not only hindered the progress of diverse professionals but have also influenced the very codes and algorithms that underpin our digital lives.
This session aims to shed light on the idea that “code” itself is not gender-neutral. It reflects the perspectives and biases of its creators, often perpetuating gender stereotypes and reinforcing existing inequalities. Understanding the gendered aspects of technology is crucial for creating inclusive and equitable systems.
Moreover, the benefits of a diverse tech workforce cannot be overstated. Increased female and other gender participation in tech leads to innovation, enhanced problem-solving, and the development of products that better serve diverse user groups. To bridge the gender gap in tech, we must discuss strategies to foster diversity, equity, and inclusion, ultimately shaping a more balanced, progressive, and just technological landscape. Through the session, we will be running such must discuss topic along with discussion on if such biasness actually exists or is it just a mental state.
January 31, 2025 — Common nature of being human is to make mistakes, learn from mistakes and correct the mistakes. A lot of mistakes I have made in my WordPress journey so far and learned from them. And I have seen people like advanced WordPress developers making mistakes developing websites, themes, plugins and even customising such as debugging off, using common names for variables, constants, function and classes, not to optimise media, etc. But these are very common mistakes we make. I would like to share the mistakes we actually overlook or do not consider as mistakes.

January 4, 2025 — As a self-identified ‘No-Code Contributor’ within the WordPress ecosystem, I advocate tirelessly for the empowerment and inclusion of underrepresented communities. My commitment stems from a deep belief in the importance of diversity and the unique perspectives it brings to the table. In my role as a Team Rep for Making WordPress Polyglots, I work to amplify the voices of those who may not have traditionally been heard within the WordPress community. By championing the contributions of underrepresented individuals not only from my local community, Dhaka WordPress Meetup Chapter, I strive to create a more inclusive and equitable environment where everyone’s talents and insights are valued. By fostering an environment that encourages collaboration and inclusivity, I aim to break down barriers and create opportunities for women to contribute their unique insights and expertise. I am a facilitator of WP Diversity within Bangladesh and try my best to help encourage women to contribute more and also make an impact. Moreover, fostering a more inclusive environment within the WordPress community has the potential to benefit hundreds and thousands of people worldwide. By amplifying the voices of underrepresented communities, we empower individuals to share their stories, insights, and expertise, thereby enriching the collective knowledge and resources available to the entire community. This not only strengthens the WordPress ecosystem but also expands its reach and impact, ultimately benefiting users, developers, businesses, and organizations around the globe. By championing diversity and inclusion within the WordPress ecosystem, we not only create a more equitable and welcoming community but also unleash the full potential of our collective talents and contributions. Together, we can build a future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and succeed, regardless of their background or identity.
