January 2, 2026 — Open-source thrives when fresh perspectives and diverse voices join the community, and students are one of the most powerful groups to lead that charge. In this talk, I will explore how academic institutions and student communities can bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world impact by contributing to WordPress and other open-source projects. Drawing from my own experience engaging with students and faculty, I will share strategies for introducing open-source in educational settings, addressing common challenges, and creating pathways for students to contribute meaningfully even without deep technical expertise.
Attendees will learn how open-source involvement can enhance students’ skills, boost employability, and foster leadership, while also empowering institutions to create a culture of innovation and collaboration. This session will highlight actionable steps to build sustainable student engagement and demonstrate why empowering students as contributors is key to the long-term growth of the WordPress ecosystem. I will also include the story of organizing WordPress Campus Connect Dhaka 2025 with 20 partner campuses and 2000+ students over a month-long event in multiple campuses.

January 4, 2025 — As a self-identified ‘No-Code Contributor’ within the WordPress ecosystem, I advocate tirelessly for the empowerment and inclusion of underrepresented communities. My commitment stems from a deep belief in the importance of diversity and the unique perspectives it brings to the table. In my role as a Team Rep for Making WordPress Polyglots, I work to amplify the voices of those who may not have traditionally been heard within the WordPress community. By championing the contributions of underrepresented individuals not only from my local community, Dhaka WordPress Meetup Chapter, I strive to create a more inclusive and equitable environment where everyone’s talents and insights are valued. By fostering an environment that encourages collaboration and inclusivity, I aim to break down barriers and create opportunities for women to contribute their unique insights and expertise. I am a facilitator of WP Diversity within Bangladesh and try my best to help encourage women to contribute more and also make an impact. Moreover, fostering a more inclusive environment within the WordPress community has the potential to benefit hundreds and thousands of people worldwide. By amplifying the voices of underrepresented communities, we empower individuals to share their stories, insights, and expertise, thereby enriching the collective knowledge and resources available to the entire community. This not only strengthens the WordPress ecosystem but also expands its reach and impact, ultimately benefiting users, developers, businesses, and organizations around the globe. By championing diversity and inclusion within the WordPress ecosystem, we not only create a more equitable and welcoming community but also unleash the full potential of our collective talents and contributions. December 3, 2024 — Explore how non-coders can contribute to WordPress by testing, updating documentation, and working with design and accessibility teams, highlighting the importance of no-code contributions in the open-source community.

WordPress aims to democratize publishing which got me thinking, what if a non-coder like myself could ever contribute to WordPress Core. Since the inception of this idea, I began working closely with the Core Team as well Design and Accessibility. Completing tasks such as testing, updating documentation, administrative work including ‘leading a bug-scrub’ or bug-gardening are all great examples of contributions that don’t necessarily require you to know ‘how to code’. In this talk, I try to paint a picture of an universe where WordPress can thrive with contributions from con-coders and folks such as you and me. I also try to justify the significance of No-code contributions to WordPress and how it is powering the project.
