We’ll go through:

• Keeping your text concise and clear
• Adding important context when needed
• What not to include in alt-text
• When to mention text that appears in an image
• Why keyword stuffing is harmful
• How context changes the way alt-text should be written
To make things practical, we’ll also demonstrate the process directly in WordPress, showing you where and how to add alt-text when uploading and editing images. You’ll see exactly how it fits into your site’s workflow and have the chance to ask questions about real examples.
By the end of the session, you’ll feel more confident about writing alt-text that improves accessibility and enhances your site’s overall quality.

It covers assembling your team, planning sessions and logistics, briefing facilitators, supporting participants on-site, sharing materials, and collecting feedback. You’ll also learn how to issue certificates of participation (including optional signing by the WordPress Executive Director), how to share your event highlights, ways to stay involved through Student Clubs, and how interested universities can explore the WP Credits program.

We’ll explore how to set up shipping options, choose and configure payment gateways, and understand the key WooCommerce pages your customers will use. We’ll also look at managing orders and creating coupons to help you run your store more effectively.

It covers how Community Event Supporters review your application, help with orientation, determine your event email address and create the event website, guide you through budgeting and venue approval, mark your event as scheduled, and follow up with post‑event surveys and feedback.

October 27, 2025 — Menus play a key role in helping visitors explore your site. In this session, we’ll look at the two main ways to create them in WordPress — the Navigation block and the Classic Menu Editor.

You’ll learn how the Navigation block lets you visually build and style menus right in the editor. You’ll also get a look at the Classic Menu Editor — the legacy tool that’s still available for older themes and sites using traditional navigation.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll understand how both tools work and how the Navigation block can make building menus easier, more flexible, and more dynamic.
