June 10, 2025 — Have you heard about the WordPress Speed Challenge created and hosted by Jamie Marsland? This exciting event has gained lots of attention on YouTube and has also featured at WordCamp Europe and WordCamp USA. The WordPress Speed Build Challenge is a high jeopardy competition designed to showcase the power of Full Site Editing in WordPress. The two contestants: Jessica Lyschik and Nick Diego will have 30 minutes to recreate a famous website using only Gutenberg blocks. This challenge highlights the versatility and ease of building professional websites without extensive coding. This high-pressure competition tests participants’ ability to quickly adapt, think creatively, and demonstrate their technical skills within a timeframe. The website to be recreated is kept a secret until the start of the challenge, adding an element of surprise and excitement. Perfect for developers, designers, and WordPress enthusiasts, it’s a fun way to test skills, learn new techniques, and celebrate the capabilities of modern website-building tools.

October 12, 2024 — Hinweis: Die ersten Minuten sind leider ohne Ton

Die Idee ist angelehnt an die Speed Building Challenge von Jamie Marsland, aber stark vereinfacht und mit geringerem Aufwand. Ich bin auf der Bühne, mein Laptop hängt am Beamer und das Publikum macht Vorschläge, welche Patterns ich live nachbauen soll. Idealerweise sind diese nicht zu kompliziert und es gibt ein Zeitlimit – bin mir noch nicht sicher welches bzw. wir viele Patterns realistisch wären.

Ich habe sowas gestern beim Meetup Nürnberg gemacht und hatte ein engagiertes Publikum. Ist eher was interaktives als ein monologer Vortrag.

October 10, 2024 — In this session, Jessica will show you how Mrs.Sporty – Europe’s leading women’s fitness & health brand – managed to build a website system with 250 connected WordPress websites. As a franchise, Mrs.Sporty needs to be able to control some parts of these sites globally, while still allowing local franchisees to make local adjustments.

Jessica will walk you through this exciting case and explain how multiple multisites were linked together to synchronize some parts while leaving others open for local editing. She will highlight how the separation of content, design & layout was critical to making this case possible.

July 15, 2024 — In the Gutenberg Speed Build Challenge, participants have 30 minutes to recreate a famous website, using only the WordPress Block Editor.

The two contestants will be Jessica Lyschik and Rich Tabor.

The challenge tests quick adaptation, creativity, and skill under time pressure, with the website to be recreated revealed only at the start!

November 30, 2023 — In ihrem aufgezeichneten Vortrag stellt uns Jessica Lyschik die Neuerungen des Anfang November ’23
veröffentlichten WordPress 6.4 mit dem parallel erschienenen neuen Standartheme „Twenty Twenty-Four” (TT4) vor.

Jessica ist Mitglied des WordPress-Core-Teams und war Hauptverantwortliche für dieses Standardtheme.

November 2, 2023 — WordPress 6.4 is set to launch on November 7, 2023, and with it, a new default theme for the upcoming year. This discussion focused on the development and design of the new Twenty Twenty-Four theme. Jessica Lyschik led the presentation, which was followed by a Q&A session.

The presentation included a demo/walkthrough of Twenty Twenty-Four, showing what the theme is capable of. We also shared some background information and tips and tricks on the new features and how to make it your own.

October 6, 2023 — Performance is a popular buzzword in the WordPress space. For most users, installing a performance optimization plugin is the one thing they do on their website, maybe configuring some of the settings. But performance is way more than that. In this session, I want to give a quick overview of what is important for a website to be considered performant and what to look at when working with WordPress websites.
