June 25, 2019 — Достъпност … web достъпност – какво представлява и защо е нужна?
June 20, 2019 — Ten years ago the HTML5 proposition saw the light for the first time. HTML5 introduced new and extended APIs to support more interactive pages, and a whole stack of new semantic elements to delight us.
So after a lifetime (in web terms), how extensively are these elements being supported by browsers, used by developers, and how have they impacted upon the accessibility of websites that use them?
We’ll look at some successes, some elements where more browser or assistive technology finesse is required, and a frustrating selection where we are still a long way from being ‘match ready’.

– Ease of adding code, and/or use of Plugins;
– Testing tools; and
– Value added to your Web Design business
June 10, 2019 — This talk looks at the business side of web accessibility. Awareness around accessibility and inclusivity is increasing in the WordPress ecosystem but how can you as a designer, developer, or agency (owner) get the message across to your client? As makers of the web we often have to deal with myths like ‘accessible web design is ugly or boring’, ‘web accessibility is expensive and hard to implement’ and ‘my site audience does not include disabled people’. This talk looks at the WHY of Web Accessibility and provides the audience with HOW. HOW to convince your client that there are many benefits with having an accessible website.

May 15, 2019 — This session has a look at some small tweaks that developers can make when building WordPress sites for themselves or their clients.
The first part explores using SVG images in a way that ensures that screen reader (and other AT) users can access them successfully. Then we’ll progress to some CSS techniques that are useful for improving accessibility in websites – during the development stage, for content authors, and for the benefit of your site visitors.
Where possible, I’ll be demoing some of the techniques covered.
April 24, 2019 — I had my first brush with accessibility in 2002. My boss was in a panic that our web application was not accessible, and that we would lose government funding.
Since that experience, I’ve found myself arguing for more accessibility in web design and development. More often than not, I lose that argument.
My professional activism on the topic has caused others to label me an expert on the topic. But I don’t consider myself a practitioner. I am a vocal and heartfelt advocate.
This talk will intertwine the history of web accessibility with my own personal story of how I evolved in my views on accessibility.
I will also discuss the role the open source community has to play, for an accessible web.
