May 8, 2018 — Estamos en 2018. Los coches aún no vuelan pero los smartphones son imparables. El 80% de la gente accede a la web usando un móvil. Pronto llegaremos al 90%. La web está adaptándose a la nueva era y WordPress debe seguirle el ritmo para no quedarse atrás.

En esta charla Luis explora el cambio que está sufriendo la web y cuáles son las oportunidades de WordPress para adaptarse con ella. Las técnicas de hace una década están obsoletas y abren paso a nuevas experiencias, tanto para la gente que construimos la web como para la gente que la consume. Estamos dejando de hacer Webs usando PHP y empezando a construir WebApps usando JavaScript. O mejor dicho, Progressive Web Apps.

June 24, 2016 — Web application developers often can feel stuck in a rut when developing a new application. There are various basics that every app needs, user management, data entry, etc. WordPress solves all these challenges, and provides an extensible way to record, save and display data. With the introduction of the WP Rest API, WordPress has become an ever more desirable Web Application Platform.

At my full-time job we are in the process of converting our college website to WordPress, and we are building a way to distribute News and Events throughout our WordPress Multi-Site Network, as well as third-party systems. I’ll share the progress we’ve made thus far, as well as plans for future growth. I’ll also share why we decided to build this way, and how other apps could be developed similarly.

With a highly-extensible tool for creating REST APIs included in WordPress, using JavaScript MVC frameworks to create great interfaces for your plugins, themes, apps and services is easier than ever.

In this hands-on talk Josh and Roy will share their experience creating an Angular App, powered by custom REST API endpoints for their A/B testing plugin Ingot. They will address API creation, using Angular, and ensuring that the final product is extensible and accessible as a WordPress admin interface should be.
