It is estimated that the digital world currently accounts for about 3% of global greenhouse gas emissions. To put this number in perspective, that’s more than the entire global aviation industry combined. These emissions are largely caused by the energy required by end-user devices and the data centers that process data on the Internet. Therefore, every page on a Website that you view creates small amounts of greenhouse gas emissions. Fortunately, there are ways in which these emissions can be reduced by Website owners. For example, you can think about improvements like green hosting and optimization of things like loading speed, fonts, redirects, and images. This practical and applied session will cover several examples that attendees can apply immediately the next day to make their Websites more sustainable.
