During COVID-19, millions of rural Nepali students lost access to their classrooms, but their need for education remained. The SR Zone started as a simple idea: to give students free access to quality learning resources during a crisis.

Today, the platform receives over 1 million visitors each month, features more than 300 STEM articles, and has reached over 2.5 million students through its website, offline Android apps, and YouTube channel.

This session explores how WordPress, SEO, and ASO helped grow the platform, how YouTube and Android apps supported free education without paywalls, and how offline-first approaches such as caching, PWAs, and lightweight WordPress themes helped serve students with limited internet access. It also highlights how open-source tools and student contributors helped transform a small bedroom project into a platform reaching students across Nepal.

Developers, creators, entrepreneurs, and NGO workers will gain practical insights into growing digital platforms, improving performance, and making knowledge more accessible.

This experience demonstrates how WordPress can be more than a website-building tool—it can help remove barriers to education and create meaningful impact with a small team.
