After four years of running WordPress at scale on Altis Cloud, this talk explores how the biggest lessons often extend beyond infrastructure and technology. Through real-world incidents and experiences, the speaker shares the importance of challenging assumptions, doing the unglamorous work that makes systems resilient, learning fully from failures, and investigating problems beyond the boundaries of one’s immediate responsibilities. These lessons highlight how strong engineering habits lead to better decisions and more resilient systems, regardless of their size or complexity.
