But it’s not just useful for accessibility; ARIA is a whole meta language of semantic attributes within HTML that allows us to clearly communicate the roles, states, and properties HTML elements have in a complex web site ecosystem.
I’ll talk about roles, states, and properties: what they are, how you use them, and how they can help us by creating more internally consistent HTML that’s also better for people with disabilities.

For them to be successful, they take people to show up, contribute back, grow with it and most importantly to incorporate new people into the fold. It is ongoing, it requires attention and it needs people like you and me to speak up.
A small fraction of people carry the weight of helping it thrive, but the great thing is that despite all that, we all benefit from the community no matter who contributes. In this talk I will cover some known, and unknown tips and tools for making the community work for you and your business, and also help to put back more into the community than what you take from it.

This session will provide a gentle introduction to how dynamic websites function, learning to identify and begin breaking apart relevant programming languages, and investigate what and where WordPress’ moving parts are.
This presentation is suitable for anyone who 1. wants to start rolling up their sleeves and get their hands dirty; or 2. is curious and simply wants to understand how WordPress works behind the GUI scenes. Best practices and next steps will be outlined for further exploration.

How do you figure it into your project’s scope? If you don’t like teaching them, what can you do to make sure your relationship with your client ends on a good note because you were diligent to give them the tools they need to continue on their own?
I’ll be going over strategies to help you put together a plan on teaching your clients how to use WordPress. Let’s decrease the frustration together and allow your clients to become enthusiastic WordPress users that are making money.
