WordPress in Education Showcase 2024Speakers: Rom Stephens Isaiah, Kasozi Jovan

June 13, 2024 — The purpose of the project is to create awareness within both our school community and the broader community about the significant importance of preserving nature for future generations.

Our site features articles on environmental conservation, outlines plans and goals for the club and provides information about conservation efforts led by community leaders, including school heads, clubs, local councils and district officials.

Furthermore, the site showcases photos and video clips depicting poorly managed areas within our community, including our school and nearby trading centers, illustrating ongoing efforts to restore these areas and conveying messages to both local and non-local audiences within the Kakumiro district.

Additionally, the site offers downloadable content for visitors to access offline, guiding waste management practices.

It also provides information on environmental conservation practices for maintaining a healthy lifestyle, with advice directed toward various stakeholders, including the central government, local government, cultural leaders, religious leaders and residents.

The project aims to raise awareness about the perils of environmental pollution and promote ways to live in a pollution-free environment.

For site management, we utilized WordPress as our CMS implemented a theme and integrated various plugins such as Elementor Page Builder for page customization, WP Download Manager for downloading readable content and social media plugins for linking to our social media handles.

Additionally, a contact form plugin allows for feedback submission and newsletter registration. We also incorporated the WooCommerce plugin to facilitate funding for our projects by interested donors, provided a list of frequently asked questions and included our contact information for easy access.
