October 29, 2024 — WordPress 6.7 will be released on November 12, 2024, introducing the new Twenty Twenty-Five default theme. This session of Developer Hours is a review of the theme’s development and design, led by theme developers Carolina Nymark and Juanfra Aldasoro.
The presentation provides a technical demonstration of Twenty Twenty-Five, highlighting new capabilities such as section styles and typography presets—features never before seen in a default WordPress block theme. We also reviewed the structure of the theme files, naming conventions, and how the many patterns and block templates were built.

October 1, 2023 — Do you want to learn how to change the way your website looks without code? Are you a WordPress user but not a developer? And do you want to learn how to modify an existing theme?
In this workshop, I’ll teach you how to create your custom WordPress theme without code with the Site Editor. You will learn how to modify an existing theme by editing and creating templates and changing layout, colours and typography. Finally, you will learn to export your theme so that you can use it on any WordPress website or share it with others.
This is a no code, hands-on workshop where you will have the opportunity to ask questions. You will be able to follow along and make changes to your theme while we walk through the different steps. Please bring a laptop with WordPress installed and ready.
March 9, 2023 — Several WordPress community theme developers and designers come together to discuss the Community Themes Initiative. The goal was to lay the groundwork and hash out ideas around building block themes collaboratively to submit to the official WordPress theme directory.
July 29, 2021 — The themes team wants theme authors to participate and provide their feedback in this new guideline. As this guideline will be directly related with theme authors and we want to know how they will take it.
Also, this will give an opportunity to the theme author to get involved in making new guidelines based on their ideas as well.
