August 11, 2022 — As we’ve been starting to see the return of in-person WordPress Meetups and WordCamps, let’s talk about what to expect at WordPress events! In this session, we discuss:
• Different types of WordPress events
• What to expect at these events
• How you can get involved
November 3, 2020 — This talk will include:
lessons learned from our personal experiences looking for work at everything from partnerships to VIP agencies
when to work for yourself and when to hire on with someone else,
and then job trends in 2019 that open up opportunities for people interested in moving away from the traditional opportunities in development and design.
June 7, 2020 — This talk explores the positive impact of being part of a community, including both the value to the individual as well as those around them. It covers various social benefits like global friendships, having an office environment–even if you work on your own–and a network of professionals. Beyond that, I also discuss the increased job and volunteer opportunities that can change lives.
June 10, 2019 — Whether you work remotely or work with remote coworkers and partners, it’s becoming increasingly common to need to collaborate differently. In this session panelists, who are all remote workers, discuss their strategies for success and pitfalls to avoid when working remotely.
May 8, 2017 — Wow! Just wow!
When I first started to consider asking Cate DeRosia if she would be interested in being interviewed, I thought she might have something interesting to say to the WordPress world. This interview far exceeded any expectations I had.
This interview was done at WordCamp Jackson, where we were able to find a quite place in between sessions.
Cate talks about being the spouse of a remote WordPress developer. She discusses attending WordCamps and getting to know people in the Community she had only heard about and building her own relationships.
We discuss raising children in the digital age, the steps taken to protect them and letting children find their own way. Cate talks about taking their children to WordCamps and how they forged their own relationships in the WordPress Community.
