January 14, 2020 — I’ve been blogging for 8 years and I have learned that when it comes to getting visits to my website, I had to do three things: (1) Narrow my niche, (2) Answer a question, and (3) gain a basic understanding of search engine optimization.
In this presentation, I would like to introduce the audience to 15 (or more) easy tips that they can apply immediately to improve the SEO of their WordPress blog. My tips will include:
• Keyword research
• Topics that answer questions
• Best practices for headers
• Guest posting and link backs
• Digging deep into the analytics of a blog
November 22, 2019 — One of my first blogs was named “Blogging in my Pajamas,” because I wanted to build a blog into a fulltime job. Too many blogs about blogging combined with my general lack of knowledge squashed that dream. Today, 7 years later, I am months away from turning my passion into a full-time business. Last year, I began making changes to my blogging routine that tripled my income, increased my traffic, and landed me on page one of Google for the competitive keyword “Raw Dog Food.”
Join me at WordCamp to learn the steps I took that are leading me to the day when I will be blogging from home, surrounded by my dogs.

WordPress Redirect Links: Your New Best Friend for Influencer Marketing
WordPress redirects are a much underused tactic in marketing campaigns. At NTEN, we gave unique addresses to partners in a marketing campaign, which allowed us to track the web traffic that came from them. That info not only helps us make better decisions about marketing partners but is also really useful to share with the partner as a win, so we can keep them engaged and more likely to keep sharing. This small piece of WordPress tech can have a huge impact.
Proper Care and Feeding of Trolls
Many bloggers don’t worry about trolls. “I’m not big enough to attract a troll,” I’ve been told. If you’re thinking of that combative person who hides behind a fake name or anonymous profile, spewing insults and political rants, that’s only one of many kinds of trolls. In reality, a troll can be a family member, a friend, or a passionate person who believes they are saving the world from your lies.
Whatever troll you’ve attracted to your blog, it can be stressful and be distracting for both you and your readers. In this session, I’m going to share the steps I take to protect myself from a trouble maker.
