April 20, 2016 — After your site is set up and you figured out how to add content, the next steps are sometimes less obvious.
In this session we’ll talk to new WordPress users about
• how to evaluate plugins and themes you think you like or need,
• how to manage all kinds of media so it shows up the way you want,
• how to get the word out about your content through RSS feeds, social media and a little bit of SEO,
• and perhaps, most importantly, how to find help when you’re stuck.
January 12, 2016 — An introduction to using Ecommerce with WordPress. Session attendees will have a working knowledge of how to set up a basic ecommerce store in WordPress.
December 21, 2015 — Is it easy to build a website with WordPress? The answer to that question depends on what you have to compare it to.
Fortunately, it’s not difficult to learn. There are steps you can take to make sure your clients feel confident managing the content on their sites and appreciate the power and flexibility they don’t get with hosted solutions. If we put in a little extra effort when building sites, we will turn our clients into WordPress fans—and fans of our products and services.
October 10, 2015 — This talk discusses Varoujan’s experience with WordPress and how he started to get familiar with themes and plugins. He will discuss the challenges he faced when tweaking or modifying layouts. Although initially coding is not required when designing with WordPress; he will eventually have to learn CSS, PHP and HTML, which will become necessary to fine tune the functionality of the site.
October 6, 2015 — This talk focuses on Best Practices in getting started with WordPress. Or “Things I Wish I Knew When I First Learned WordPress”.

But you forgot pretty quickly. Get past the fear of breaking the internet. You CAN do this! This session will help you figure out what you think you can’t.
Kerch McConlogue, retired ADHD coach and front end developer, has been writing code by hand for 16 years and using WordPress since version 1.5. Her passion is helping WordPress novices to understand the basics of care and feeding of their own sites and to get past their fears of breaking the internet.
