Um Design und Konzept der Kunden sinnvoll umzusetzen, ist ein individuelles Theme häufig die einzige vernünftige Möglichkeit. Die Anwender erhalten ein intuitives und übersichtliches System mit den Optionen, die sie wirklich brauchen. Und der Browser bekommt schlankeren Code ohne unnötigen Ballast. In diesem Talk gibt uns Stefan Informationen zu folgenden Themen: Wozu überhaupt ein Theme selbst entwickeln? Performance, Sicherheit, Usability und Design Anatomie eines Themes, d.h. welche Dateien brauchen wir wirklich? Von einem leeren Verzeichnis ausgehend arbeiten wir uns bis zu einem Theme vor, das von WP erkannt und aktiviert werden kann. Eine Erweiterung durch Custom Post Types, Custom Fields und unsere Lieblings-Plugins ist natürlich ebenfalls möglich. Außerdem zeigt uns Stefan Tools für einen effizienten Workflow bei der Entwicklung: lokale Entwicklungsumgebung, Automatisierung mit grunt, Versionierung und Deployment mit git.
