If you want to make money blogging, there are many things you should do and many things you shouldn’t waste time doing when it comes to blogging. Certainly this will cut at the hearts of bloggers who love to do many of the things I say are a waste and hate doing other things that will make you money. The core question is if you want to make money blogging or not. If you do, then you’ll love this session which will make you rethink how you’re spending your time blogging.

John I like what you are saying here. Most people are just no focusing on the right things that will actually help them make money with their blog. Good Stuff thanks for sharing.

I agree, most bloggers don’t know how to balance the ( Content- Marketing – Monetization) formula. Technical people over do (the Marketing side) to the point their marketing often resembles spam, non-technical people almost ignore the marketing side and end up disappointed that their blog is relatively unknown.
It is amazing that you (John Lynn) were able to quit your day time job in exactly 5 years. This is my ultimate goal, to be able to focus on doing what I love most. I too, am in the process of building a couple of niche blogs and so far I am monetizing only one of those but it is very hard to do so while you have a full time job.
I agree with almost everything you have said, I just have two comments:
1- Social Marketing is only useful for “fun” or “controversial” or “News” topics… Tutorials or educational or technical topics won’t do that well
2- Videos can only go viral if they are “fun” or “shocking”… example your video is amazing and very valuable, but I can only see 7 likes… on the other hand, just today I saw on youtube a video about a woman “just walking” in NY city while men are catcalling her… it has more than 25 million views.
