January 23, 2019 — You press Enter and instead of a new line you get a new paragraph. You want to create a nested list and it just doesn’t look how you want it to. You pasted text from your word processor and its format is all wrong.
Formatting an article in WordPress can be boring and frustrating, but it’s a crucial step in writing for the web.
People read on screen differently than on paper and formatting the text will help them get to the end of it.
This talk will show you how to leverage the options available in WordPress and it will teach you how to fix some common problems with a few HTML tags.
January 18, 2019 — I didn’t think I needed a business plan, I only needed clients, tons of clients. Even though my title was web designer, I took every job that was asked of me: web sites, of course, but also graphics, print, social media management, training, basically anything!
December 2, 2018 — When I started my business, in 2011, I didn’t think I needed a business plan, I only needed clients, tons of clients. Even though my title was web designer, I took every job that was asked of me: web sites, of course, but also graphics, print, social media management, training, basically anything!
In less than eight months I had to go back to work as an employee because I managed to spend way more money than I earned.
I kept doing some freelancing on the side with no direction whatsoever and finally I realised that I needed a plan. After implementing a proper business plan, I was able to recognise and concentrate on a niche market, become much more successful, raise my prices, and greatly increase my income.
It doesn’t matter what your financial goal for the year is, or what your mission for your small business is, having measurable goals and a clear strategy will allow you to do what you love and make a living out of it.
Together we will go over the basic sections of a business plan and we’ll learn a creative way to make one that represents you and your business.
November 30, 2018 — Some years ago, I was lucky enough to be part of an inspiring and vibrant group of Italian female entrepreneurs sharing their stories in an online chat group. In 2013, we decided to add some structure to our exchanges and launch a blog. Five years later, the blog is still going strong and quite popular in Italy. It grew from a few friends contributing to 10 regular authors and 50 guest contributors. I’ll share the challenges we encountered over the years trying to create a smooth process for the growing number of authors and my experience in keeping the quality consistent while maintaining a schedule relevant to the audience’s expectations. I’ll recommend best practices including how to manage user permissions, how to assign editing and curation, deciding who has the final editorial say, and delegating the task of actually getting the content online. I will share practical solutions, based on what worked for us, that many different types of teams can use to coordinate their efforts and keep things in check.

December 10, 2017 — The Italian WordPress community was dormant for years, until a bunch of people got together at WCEU Contributor Day in Seville, in 2015, and decided it was time to revive it.
After months of online chats in our Slack team, we organised an event that kick-started an avalanche of Meetups and WordCamps in Italy: a stand-alone Contributor Day.
Two years later, Italy has more than 20 active Meetups, 4 cities with WordCamps in planning, and a great numbers of Contributors across the project.
In this talk, I’ll go through the steps we took to organise it, and I will also talk about Contributor Nights, special Meetup events where we concentrate on one of the Make teams and learn how to contribute from scratch.
