September 8, 2016 — Automattic’s prominente Rolle im WordPress Universum ruft unterschiedlichste Reaktionen hervor. Teilweise undurchsichtige Beziehungen und Entscheidungen die nicht immer für jeden nachvollziehbar sind gehören dabei zu den negativeren Dingen die in der breiteren Community wahrgenommen werden. Diese Session erörtert den Zusammenhang verschiedener Teile des Projekts, geht den Ursprüngen nach, und behandelt die Philosophie hinter Automattic’s Engagement in der Community.

August 2, 2016 — Cain & Obenland in the Morning! is a morning talk show-style WordCamp session aimed to kick-off WordCamps with interesting, current, and informative WordPress topics… and a little bit of lighthearted fun.

Our sessions are broken into three parts: The WordPress Not-Nightly News (news and current events from around the community); a special guest interview (a Q&A introduction to a bigger name attendee/speaker – what do you do?/how’d you get started?/etc.); a current, introductory-intermediate design or development topic (i.e. internationalization, security best practices, theming, etc.).

June 30, 2016 — The Plugin Directory is the backbone of the success of WordPress. It provides tens of thousands of possibilities to expand your WordPress site and add the most unusual features. It has been doing its job for almost ten years without difficulties or major failures. But it’s time for an overhaul. In this session Konstantin explores new features, a shiny new design, and provides a unique look behind the scenes of a brand new Plugin Directory, ready to take on the next decade of WordPress growth.

Es bietet zehntausende Möglichkeiten die eigene WordPress Seite zu erweitern und die ausgefallensten Funktionen hinzuzufügen. Es verrichtet seit bald zehn Jahren seinen Job, ohne größere Ausfälle, ohne ernstzunehmende Schwierigkeiten. Aber wie funktioniert es? Wie sieht es unter der Haube aus? Und was bringt die Zukunft? Konstantin beantwortet uns diese und weitere Fragen in seinem Vortrag ausführlich und bietet einen einzigartigen Blick hinter die Kulissen.

April 18, 2016 — Es gibt kaum welche im deutschsprachigen Raum, die sich besser mit WordPress auskennen und sich für eine spontane Frage- und Antwort-Runde auf eine Bühne trauen: Dominik, Konstantin und Pascal tragen mit zusammen über 1.500 Änderungen alleine am WordPress Core seit Jahren zur Entwicklung von WordPress bei. Zwischen Feature-Plugins, der Arbeit an WordPress.com und der Verbesserung der WordPress.org Infrastruktur, sowie Default-Themes und Übersetzungen, gibt es kaum etwas, was die drei noch nicht gesehen haben. Nach einer kurzen Vorstellung und einem Ausblick auf WordPress 4.6 beantworten sie gerne alle Fragen, die ihnen gestellt werden.

August 18, 2015 — Konstantin has been involved in creating three out of the last four default themes for WordPress. It’s been a great learning opportunity both as a WordPress developer as well as a contributor and member of the community. Konstantin Obenland shares some lessons learned, on the theme creation side of things about how innovative we were able to be even though we had to cater to such a broad spectrum of users, and on the community side how it enabled him to become more involved with the project and work with other contributors around the world towards a common goal.
