Y es que desde 2003, año en el que se lanzó la primera versión, WordPress ha crecido vertiginosamente gracias a la colaboración voluntaria de miles de personas alrededor del mundo que cada día participan en todos los aspectos relacionados con WordPress: su código de programación, las traducciones, la documentación, etc.

Este es el primer evento de la comunidad oficial de WordPress en Guarenas-Guatire que sirve como bienvenida a todos los entusiastas del mundo web y de WordPress. En este evento aprenderás qué hace tan especial esta comunidad: cómo participar, qué es y qué no, beneficios y desafíos. Además estaremos respondiendo a todas las preguntas y dudas que tengas sobre la comunidad.

March 20, 2020 — Oft herrscht die Vorstellung vor, um an einem großen Open-Source-Projekt wie WordPress mitzuarbeiten zu können, müsste man zumindest ein Informatikstudium erfolgreich absolviert haben – genau mit diesem Trugschluss will Ulf Schönefeld aufräumen. Ziel ist es das Projekt WordPress und die dahinterstehende Community beim Termin näherzubringen. Wie sind selbige organisiert, was sind sinnvolle Anlaufstellen und welche Möglichkeiten bestehen sich dort einzubringen; selbst gesetzt dem Fall, dass man von technischen Dingen wie PHP, HTML, CSS oder JavaScript so überhaupt gar keine Ahnung hat.

February 10, 2020 — At the end of 2000, I first became acquainted with the internet and I had no idea back then that a mother of 5 and grandmother of 1 could have built a successful life that literally saved my own.

For the last fifteen years, I’m proud to say that WordPress, and it’s thriving community, has been a large part of my life. I’ve enjoyed making friends, attending WordCamps, and being part of Make WordPress.

The Internet has been a place where we share our joy. But what happens when life is interrupted? There are many things that will interrupt your life. Death. Divorce. Illness.

I’ve experienced all three. In this talk, I’ll share some of vital the lessons I’ve learned from being a part of such helpful and friendly community. Please join me during this session to not only hear my story, that many of us have experienced, but also for practical advice.

November 18, 2019 — In any industry, you have peers. In WordPress, you have community. So what does community mean? Why is it important to be part of a community? How do you become part of the community when you’re new? And how can we have mentorship from the seasoned community members?

In this talk, I’ll discuss how we can include others. How new people can observe. How active members can include. And how we can have a truly diverse and and accepting culture — not just an inclusive label.
