What started as a side-project in late 2010, turned into a successful lifestyle business with a team of five members. He’ll cover his entire four-year experience, how he got into WordPress and the things he learned about commercial plugins economics. He’ll also share about the thin line between keeping your users happy and making money. And will explain why freemium plugins are great for the WordPress economy.

There are thousands of options, so we can usually find something that gets us 80-90% of the way there. But heavens to Betsy, that last 10-20% can be hard to find! That’s why it’s good to learn how to make a child theme, which lets you keep almost everything while adding to or removing from your original theme safely. Most of this talk with cover the creation and use of child themes. This is an absolutely essential (and pretty easy to learn) skill for any WordPress designer.

September 20, 2015 — Les plugins. Il y en a tellement que c’est facile de s’y perdre. En plus, quand vous finissez par en trouver un, il répond *presque* parfaitement à votre problème. Mais il manque un petit quelque chose. La date n’est pas au bon format, il manque une colonne, vous voulez ajouter un thumbnail. Bref, il va falloir plonger dedans, et le modifier! Il existe quelques approches pour ne pas s’y perdre.

Dans cette conférence, je ferai le survol des «best practices» en la matière, et de comment j’ai fini par les découvrir.

Préalables:
Utilisateurs WordPress intermédiaires qui ont une certaine idée de ce qu’ils font. Ils doivent être capable de copier et coller quelques lignes de code sans détruire leur site web. Utile pour toute personne qui sont confortable avec le HTML/CSS/PHP et Google.
