October 28, 2016 — Pulling from my experiences developing leenk.me and iThemes Sync, I will discuss the most important aspects of integrating a SAAS app with WordPress. We will cover the basic ways of communicating data to and from WordPress, including creating a basic REST API in WordPress and using the WP-API. I will also briefly discuss the benefits of using WordPress as your SAAS framework.

August 2, 2016 — This one’s for everybody! In this talk, we’ll cover the organizational and technical benefits of running a multi-network, multi-site WordPress as the primary CMS at Boston University. We’ll highlight specific strategies, including organizational policies, development workflows, and team structure that allow us to serve over a million users per month. We’re here to help dispel the notion that a centralized approach to WordPress can’t successfully be implemented in Higher Ed.

WordPress Coding Standards have been around for a while, yet many developers don’t write code with them, let alone know they exist. This was the case with me until September 2015 when I made the switch, and now I wish I’d dived in earlier! September 18, 2015 — WordPress now powers nearly 25% of the web, but the vast majority of those websites use WordPress as a CMS. In our transition from a plugin to a hosted platform with OptinMonster, we decided to use WordPress as our application platform. This talk gives a practical overview of how we use WordPress as the application backend and the obstacles we had to overcome to make it scale to serve 10s of millions of API requests every day.
