Otherwise you risk dropping tasks, miscommunication, and overall disorganization–all of which can drastically affect your company’s bottom line.

August 15, 2016 — Developers and designers work together on a daily basis to bring custom WordPress builds to life, but sometimes the process can be a bumpy ride! Designers and developers both approach a site design and build from very different angles and this can cause issues. I’ll draw on my own experience of the good, the bad and the ugly to outline some ways that designers and developers can adapt their workflows to work more effectively together.

August 9, 2016 — As WordPress has evolved from a blogging tool to a full-fledged CMS and even application framework, the need for intuitive workflows for clients to manage their website’s have never been greater. As bigger organizations with more editorial staff starts using WordPress, we get a whole new set of challenges.

In this session, we will explore how we can create workflows that clients and non-technical staff find intuitive and easy to work with. Additionally, we look at common pitfalls, and find the way forward through behavioral knowledge and case studies.

July 4, 2016 — I will cover different tools for faster and easier development of WordPress projects from the local set up to acceptance testing. The focus is on the improvements that we all can do in our daily development work that can help us write cleaner code, deploy it safely on remote servers, test it and also to be able to include easier new people in our teams and onboard them.

July 3, 2016 — How to grow a virtual company with dozens of remote employees and freelancers. The talk will focus on hiring opportunities, delegating activities, identifying key roles for a company and finding the right talent. Once the team is sorted out, we’ll cover project management strategies and tricks, online collaboration (both for code and infrastructure, project management and communication), employee retention, and other key challenges that remote teams struggle with.

June 30, 2016 — This talk tells how a completely distributed team works using the example of Hyperion, one of the teams that worked on the new WordPress.com, codenamed Calypso. The audience will be able to see in a deeper detail how a distributed team is organized and it will get a few driving principles on how to replicate that themselves.

April 21, 2016 — Hans-Helge liebt es, einen guten Entwicklungs-Workflow zu haben. Wenn alles eingerichtet ist und die Arbeit scheint einfach nur so zu flutschen. Doch leider war das bis letztes Jahr bei ihm noch nicht der Fall und so hat er sich aktiv auf die Suche begeben. Bei seiner Suche fand er allerdings keine guten Ressourcen, die wirklich mal von Anfang bis Ende alles gezeigt haben und das möchte er mit diesem Talk nun ändern. Dabei wird er nicht in jegliche Details gehen können, aber für interessierte Entwickler wird er natürlich alle Ressourcen und Links bereit stellen.

April 21, 2016 — Die richtigen Werkzeuge erleichtern uns die Arbeit. Composer und Git machen vieles einfacher. Der Vortrag zeigt uns, wie wir Composer nutzen können, um WordPress (samt Plugins und Themes) zu installieren und zu aktualisieren. Kombiniert mit Git ergibt sich eine moderne Lösung für bessere Workflows und einfachere Deployments, insbesondere wenn wir im Team arbeiten oder unterschiedliche Umgebungen nutzen.
