November 6, 2021 — Grazie alle Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1, la fruizione di WordPress da parte di persone con disabilità visiva è diventata molto più semplice, specie dopo l’arrivo di Gutenberg editor; prima era necessaria una conoscenza profonda del codice HTML anche per scrivere un banale diario personale.
Illustrerò in questo talk le possibilità offerte per creare contenuti usando solo la tastiera, grazie a Gutenberg, gli shortcode e in alcuni casi la sintassi base del linguaggio di marcatura MarkDown che permettono di scrivere e formattare senza mai staccare le dita dalla posizione chiave della tastiera qwerty; si può anche scrivere in MarkDown in un semplice smartphone o notetaker Braille, per poi trasferire direttamente il contenuto in Gutenberg.
Accennerò anche ad un possibile futuro scenario con Gutenberg integrato in ogni funzione della piattaforma (Full Site Editor) e alla necessità di una maggiore attenzione all’accessibilità da parte di chi sviluppa temi, plug-in, e relativa documentazione, inclusi i corsi on line e in presenza perché WordPress ha le potenzialità di diventare il CMS in assoluto più accessibile ma ha bisogno dell’aiuto di tutti.

No, los subtítulos automáticos no hacen magia, incluso aunque tengas a un equipo profesional detrás. El trabajo empieza en ti, ese contenido tiene que estar creado pensando en tu audiencia y sus posibles necesidades.

Mejorar la accesibilidad de tu contenido no depende solo de usar una buena cámara o un buen micrófono. Tampoco depende solo de elegir bien el tamaño de la letra y su color.

En esta charla te explicaré qué debemos hacer para facilitar que la audiencia pueda acceder a la información que les damos aunque se trate de una emisión en directo.

Perché sono importanti?
Sì, anche per la SEO. Ma soprattutto perché giocano un ruolo significativo nel rendere il mondo online più inclusivo e accessibile.

Aggiungere gli alt text corretti alle nostre immagini è un modo per renderle parlanti: così anche chi naviga grazie a tecnologie assistive può apprezzare appieno la ricchezza dei contenuti sul web.

In questo talk vedremo come scrivere degli alt text accurati, espressivi ed efficaci. Partiremo dalle basi teoriche per arrivare ai consigli pratici di copywriting inclusivo, servendoci di molti esempi e un pizzico di creatività.

In 2019, Sally Thoun had never heard of a WordCamp, MeetUp, Wapuu, or GitHub. She had heard about Accessibility but wasn’t sure exactly what it was all about. She was intimidated to even touch or edit a website and left that to her agency developers.

But what a difference a year makes! Last summer, she dove headfirst into Accessibility and WordPress. This new direction became a rewarding and fulfilling journey. In this talk, Sally shares her experiences to inspire the same purpose and passion that the selfless WordPress and Accessibility community has inspired in her.
