August 10, 2019 — Abhishek Rijal is a professional WordPress developer, primarily involved in WordPress theme and Plugin development. Currently Working as a Freelance Developer, he has been involved with Theme Review, WordPress themes and plugins support team, customizations, and development of WordPress based products.

Abhishek is an active participant and contributor to the regular WordPress meet-ups and community events around Kathmandu. He has also participated in WordCamp Kathmandu 2016 as a Volunteer, WordCamp Kathmandu 2017 as a speaker and WordCamp Kathmandu 2018 as a Contributor’s day lead.

While not working, he loves to travel around and explore new things. Additionally, he engages himself in different social service projects in Nepal as a member of Lions Club International.

June 19, 2019 — The Italian WordPress community was dormant for years, until a bunch of people got together at WCEU Contributor Day in Seville, in 2015, and decided it was time to revive it.

After months of online chats in our Slack team, we organised an event that kick-started an avalanche of Meetups and WordCamps in Italy: a stand-alone Contributor Day.

Four years later, Italy has more than 30 active Meetups, 6 cities with WordCamps in planning stages, and a great number of Contributors across the project.

In this talk, I’ll go through the steps we took to organise it and I will also talk about Contributor Nights, special Meetup events where we concentrate on one of the Make teams and learn how to contribute from scratch.

March 15, 2019 — Interview with developer Gary Jones, a WordCamp and Contributor Day organiser, on why he contributes to the WordPress open source community and would encourage others to do so.Gary organised the contributor event in London, UK in 2018 and has been a long term organiser of WordCamp in the city.

The session will highlight benefits of contributing, provide recommendations on how to find your spot and build trust, and give insights on which traits are particularly valuable to have or pick up. You will furthermore learn how contributing to core is by far not only about writing code. The goal of this session is to prepare you for a beneficial long-term relationship as a core contributor so that you can make a significant impact over time.

August 21, 2018 — Dzielenie się swoją wiedzą, umiejętnościami i wspieranie rozwoju jest tym, co napędza WordPressa i naszą rosnącą społeczność.

Podzielę się z Wami moją osobistą historią związaną z WordPressem. W WordPressie zakochałem się w 2006 roku i już wtedy wiedziałem, że zmieni on moje życie. Nie wiedziałem jednak jak bardzo. Na początku byłem tylko użytkownikiem, korzystałem z WordPressa, darmowych wtyczek i motywów, ale nie myślałem, żeby dać coś w zamian.

Wszystko zmieniło się w 2014 roku, gdy po raz pierwszy wziąłem udział w WordCampie i Contributor Day w Warszawie. Od tamtej pory aktywnie uczestniczę w życiu społeczności, organizuję lub występuję na spotkaniach wordpressowych. Prowadzę również firmę opartą w 100% na WordPressie, w której każdy z członków naszej drużyny poświęca co najmniej godzinę tygodniowo na wspieranie społeczności – to nasz projekt Godzina dla WP #godzinadlawp.

Kocham WordPressa, dlatego gdy ktoś mówi o kontrybuowaniu, nie myślę, czy to się będzie opłacało, albo co mogę z tego mieć dla siebie – myślę, kiedy mogę zacząć i jak mogę pomóc 🙂

July 20, 2018 — While a contributor day in the core team gets you familiar with the technical parts of contributing to WordPress core, it usually does not provide further guidance for those who are interested in following up and contributing more than the first taster. Finding your spot among the core contributors and spending your contributing time efficiently can be a tough and tedious challenge. Furthermore, you may run into roadblocks or get frustrated quickly.

If you are interested in becoming a long-term contributor and influencing WordPress core sustainably, this talk is for you – even if you haven’t attended a contributor day before.
