December 6, 2018 — Gutenberg is great for bloggers who want better publishing tools, but what about developers who need to craft customized CMS experiences for their clients? If you use a lot of custom fields and are horrified at the idea of giving clients any design control, this session is for you. We’ll talk about:

when to use Gutenberg, and when not to;
what should be a block, and what should stay a custom field;
how to limit a client’s color and text options;
the magic of block templates and block locking;
and how your theme development will change.

November 23, 2018 — Gutenberg, el que ha sido llamado a sustituir al editor de WordPress, está teniendo una campaña de promoción e impulso sin precedentes. Desde Automattic se han puesto los recursos, las personas, los esfuerzos para que WordPress 5.0 sea Gutenberg o no sea ¿pero es esto bueno o malo?

No voy a hablar de cómo usar el nuevo editor Gutenberg, que para eso ya hay tutoriales y vídeos de sobra, sino de qué implica este proyecto para el presente y futuro de WordPress. Hablaremos de lo bueno, de lo malo, de cómo afecta a la comunidad de usuarios, al mercado, y sobre todo tendrás tu momento para contarnos también qué opinas sobre Gutenberg.

November 18, 2018 — Ereignisse werfen ihre Schatten voraus. Sollte alles nach Plan verlaufen bringt der November gravierende sowie einschneidende Neuerungen für das WordPress Ökosystem. Für den 27.(19.) November 2018 ist die Veröffentlichung von WordPress 5.0 angekündigt, welches die Einführung eines neuen, React basierten, Inhaltseditors namens Gutenberg mit sich bringt. Über Letzteren wird Simon Kraft, Web-Entwickler aus Stuttgart, sprechen. Er unternimmt einen kleinen Ausflug in die Tiefen des neuen Block-basierten Editors. Er erläutert dabei das Konzept der neuen Inhaltsblöcke, zeigt was bei der Umstellung und Anpassung bestehender Inhalte an Gutenberg zu beachten ist und geht abschließend auf die, während dessen Entwicklung, entstandenen Kontroversen ein. Das Projekt Gutenberg findet mit der Veröffentlichung von WordPress 5.0 jedoch nicht seinen Abschluss. Vielmehr handelt es sich dabei nur um die Erste von vier Phasen, im Zuge derer dessen Konzepte noch tiefer mit Funktion und Antlitz von WordPress verwoben werden sollen.

October 9, 2018 — Ulrich is a dedicated WordPress contributor, especially as a senior reviewer for the Theme Review Team. He started the WordPress Meetup in Bern @WPBern was the lead organisers for WordCamp Bern in 2017.

He works for required, a remote WordPress agency from Switzerland & Germany, as a WordPress developer.

October 9, 2018 — Gutenberg is a major change to how you develop software for WordPress. The changes will start with the WordPress editor but the long term plan is for Gutenberg to slowly take over the entire admin interface.

If you already have existing plugin or theme code that you need to maintain and make ready for the upcoming Gutenberg update, you will probably face some architectural design challenges. This session will help prepare you to make those changes in a clean transition.
