October 5, 2018 — Soon after the release of WordPress 15 years ago, support for internationalization was added to the software. This meant that themes, plugins, and WordPress itself could be translated. This was a huge deal as WordPress is used all over the world, in countries where English is not the main language. WordPress was quickly translated into German, Japanese and many more languages.

Over the years, WordPress has steadily improved the way we have to work with internationalization. However, challenges still exist and there will always be new ones ahead. Projects like Gutenberg and ecosystems beyond WordPress.org force us to continuously iterate.

In this talk you’ll learn how to make use of the latest and greatest technology to make your WordPress plugin or theme fully internationalized. Pascal is going to highlight how you can leverage the powers of WordPress, GlotPress, and WP-CLI to improve the translation workflow in your WordPress projects.

But, if your business has any sort of success (which we all want!), you’re going to work with more and more people. And many of them are likely to touch with your code. This is going to put a strain on your development processes. It becomes harder to maintain a certain level of code quality. And you’re no longer the only person pushing code. You’re now part of a team and you need a way to standardize all of the things you once did on your own. That’s goal of continuous integration. It lets you automate your different development workflows from testing to deployment. This ensures that the quality of your code stays consistent. This talk will go over the basics of continuous integration. We’ll also go over some of the tools that are available. And then we’ll finish by looking at how you put these tools together to create your own continuous integration environment.

January 29, 2017 — Τι είναι ροή εργασίας; Γιατί χρησιμοποιούν τόσοι λίγοι μια αυτοματοποιημένη ροή εργασίας; Πώς μπορείτε να δημιουργήσετε μια αποτελεσματική ροή εργασίας; Πως μπορεί μια αυτοματοποίηση να μας βοηθήσει έτσι ώστε να εξοικονομήσουμε χρόνο; Τι εργαλεία θα πρέπει να χρησιμοποιείτε; Πώς όλα αυτά συνδέονται μεταξύ τους;

Η ανάπτυξη ιστοσελίδων στο frontend και στο backend αλλάζει με γρήγορους ρυθμούς. Εξίσου γρήγορα εμφανίζονται νέα εργαλεία και προτεινόμενες ροές εργασίας. Ενώ υποτίθεται ότι τα εργαλεία αυτά θα κάνουν την ζωή μας ως Developer ευκολότερη, βρισκόμαστε είτε ανάμεσα σε τόνους τεκμηρίωσης είτε έχουμε παρατήσει την απόπειρα και έχουμε επιστρέψει στην συνηθισμένη ροή εργασίας μας.

Μέσα από αυτή την παρουσίαση θα προσπαθήσω να δούμε κάποια από αυτά τα εργαλεία και να σας παρουσιάσω το δικό μου απλοποιημένο Frontent Workflow.
