Even as WordPress continues to globalize, many theme and plugin authors still do not implement internationalization/localization functions into their code; for one of two reasons. One, perhaps they simply don’t realize it’s a “thing” – I hope this presentation will change that fact. Two, they’re afraid of learning the ins and outs of the necessary functions because it can seem confusing at first – I hope this presentation will demonstrate how easy it can be.
In this presentation I’ talk about why i18n/l10n is important, use examples that show how to use many of the more common translation functions, and with luck get more developers to use them in their products in the future.
