Tech is changing at incredible speed, and what we consider important skills today may be meaningless a year from now. This talk is a discussion of what technologies are on the horizon, how the web and the internet will change, and how we can all prepare for a future with or without WordPress.

September 25, 2017 — Printing since 1440, 1440年から印刷し続けてきました。現在開発中のWordPressの新しいエディタのコードネームはGutenbergと言います。このプロジェクトでは、WordPressのコンテンツを、現代的な手法で作成・編集するためのUXを開発中です。便利になる、ということ以上に、ウェブサイトを作成すると行為とは何か、タイピングで文字を書き画像をやその他の要素でコンテンツを構成するとは何を意味するのか、そして、その機能がWordPressという世界の28%を動かすソフトウェアに実装される際に考慮されているべきこととは何かを議論しながら開発が進行しています。

本セッションでは、Gutenberg、カスタマイザ、リッチコンテンツ用ウィジェットといった開発中の要素がなぜ、どのように、何を目指して実装されようとしているのかを、開発の過程や議論の様子をまとめて概観しつつ、WordPressの行く末について議論していきます。
