Vuol dire anche ragionare sulle persone che useranno quei prodotti WordPress e migliorarne l’esperienza utente, qualsiasi siano le loro caratteristiche personali o le tecnologie con cui navigano sul web.

In questo talk parliamo dei punti di contatto tra la localizzazione software, l’accessibilità e la scrittura inclusiva. Un legame necessario per creare un web più democratico e inclusivo.

August 8, 2022 — For WordPress and the WordPress ecosystem to be truly accessible, it has to be available to everyone.

Accessibility means accessible to those with disabilities (and we often focus on screen readers, etc.), but those in the BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and Neurodivergent communities often find the way to success paved with roadblocks.

This talk shares the struggles that people in our community experience in finding success, as well as ways we can all be advocates for one another and make room at the table for everyone.

July 11, 2022 — Cosa si intende per inclusività e diversità? In che modo un ambiente diverso ci arricchisce? È possibile fare dei passi in più per rendere i nostri eventi ancora più inclusivi?

Per organizzare un evento inclusivo e coltivare una community aperta ed accogliente, bisogna innanzitutto capire come riconoscere e come rompere le barriere dell’esclusione sociale che, molte volte, coltiviamo all’interno della comunità senza rendercene conto.

November 6, 2021 — Comunicare in modo inclusivo significa far capire a tutte le persone che ricevono il nostro messaggio che ci stiamo rivolgendo anche a loro, in modo esplicito. Per questo la conditio sine qua non dell’inclusività, nel mondo digitale, è l’accessibilità.
Dobbiamo assicurarci che il nostro messaggio possa essere ricevuto e compreso da chiunque. Ma per garantire una piena accessibilità non basta implementare una serie di tool sul proprio sito web. Serve conoscerli, ma soprattutto serve conoscere le persone che li utilizzano, e le loro necessità. Lo scopo del talk sarà aprire uno spaccato su questo. Ad esempio, capire cosa sono e come funzionano gli screen reader aiuta a strutturare le proprie piattaforme in modo tale che siano fruibili correttamente da chi li usa. Lo stesso vale per la discromatopsia, la sordità, le neurodivergenze.
Modalità diverse di utilizzare la tecnologia, bisogni diversi da considerare per non escludere nessunə dalla conversazione.

October 31, 2020 — Inclusivity is at the heart of an effective content strategy. Accessible code may be imperative for inclusion, but the value of code is compromised when content is not meaningful to our readers.

This talk explores what we can do as content authors to ensure our readers feel that we are speaking with them, not at them. It reaches beyond semantic markup and structured content to recognize the strategic value of inclusive content.

June 21, 2020 — Every website should ideally be built so that whoever visits it, for whichever possible reason, is able to navigate through it: we can describe this idea as Universal Design.
Obviously, in practice, it’s impossible to build the perfect website for everyone, but, if we want to take steps towards this ideal, three concepts can guide our choices: accessibility, usability and inclusion. In this talk, Stefano will explore these concepts, discussing what they are, what makes them different from one another (despite their overlappings) and how we can use them together to build the best possible experience for most of our users.

May 30, 2020 — Aida shares some ideas of how we as a WordPress community can be more inclusive, not just at WordCamp, but in places of business. I will also invite participants in hands-on activities as well as discuss and share their ideas that all of us can implement in our local communities and WordPress meet-ups so that everyone can have a seat at the table.
